This year, National Apprenticeship Week runs from 10th to 16th February, with the theme “Skills for Life.” At The Barnet Group, we are proud to celebrate our commitment to developing talent and providing valuable opportunities through our apprenticeship programme.

We are currently on our fifth cohort, which has seen a total of 46 apprentices across various departments, including IT, HR, Regeneration, Housing, Customer Services, Income Collection, Gas Engineering, Fire & Safety, Bumblebee, Finance, and Domestic Abuse, to name a few. Our apprenticeships cover a wide range of courses, from CIPD and IT to Data Analysis, Health & Social Care, Customer Service, Gas Engineering, and Housing Property Management.

We are delighted to share that 88% of our apprentices have successfully passed their apprenticeships, with 82% moving directly into employment and 70% remaining with The Barnet Group. Last year, two of our apprentices received distinctions, highlighting the high standards and dedication of our participants.

This year marks the first time we have partnered with Barnet & Southgate College as our training provider for the Level 3 Business & Administration course. This collaboration is an exciting development, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our apprentices.

Apprentice Testimonials

Apprentice K: “I thoroughly enjoyed my year-long apprenticeship in the Income Collection Team at The Barnet Group. It was an incredibly rewarding experience where I learned a great deal about the housing sector. The support I received throughout the apprenticeship was fantastic and made a difference in my personal and professional growth. The working environment was friendly and collaborative, which made each day enjoyable and motivating. Once the apprenticeship finished, I went on to join the Contracts and Compliance team, which is a new step for me. Looking back, I would recommend doing an apprenticeship at The Barnet Group to anyone looking to gain valuable experience in the housing field, as it has been an enriching journey that has helped shape my career.”

Apprentice S: “I knew in Sixth Form that university wasn’t the right path for me, so I decided to apply for an apprenticeship instead. However, when lockdown hit, finding work became incredibly difficult as I had no prior experience. That’s when I discovered the apprenticeship opportunities with The Barnet Group. I applied for the Business Administration role and was quickly invited for an interview. Shortly after, I was offered the position of ‘BOOST Apprentice.’

“Over the next 14 months, I gained invaluable experience in housing, benefits, social media, and employment support. I also earned multiple qualifications, including Housing Practice, Safeguarding Adults, and Customer Service. Having the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working toward a qualification was crucial in preparing me for my future career.

“This experience led to me securing a permanent role as a Youth Employment Officer with BOOST at the end of my apprenticeship, along with the incredible honour.
