Can I move home if I owe rent or service charges?
No. Before you are eligible to apply for an exchange or transfer you must clear any arrears on your account.
Can I swap my home with another tenant?
If you hold a secure, assured periodic 5-year fixed-term social housing tenancy in your name, you are usually eligible for a home swap. However, in order to be eligible you must adhere to the following conditions – you must not have rent arrears, a history of antisocial behaviour or have previously broken any of the terms of your tenancy agreement.
Can I give my tenancy to my son or daughter?
Only a spouse or partner can succeed your tenancy in the event of your death, and only if they have been living in the property with you for the previous 12 months. A tenancy can only be passed on once, so if you have taken on someone else’s tenancy then you won’t be able to pass it on again.
Can I add someone else to my sole tenancy?
Please note that it is not our policy to add a joint tenant and to create a new joint tenancy. If you wish to add a household member to your records, please complete our online form and we will add them to our records.
Can I remove a joint tenant from my tenancy?

How do I end my tenancy?
In order to end your tenancy, you must complete our Notice to Quit form and provide us with at least 4 weeks’ notice.
Do I have the right to buy my home?
If you have been an Opendoor Homes tenant for at least three years, you have the Right to Acquire your home. Visit our Right to Acquire page for more information
Can I have a lodger?
Yes, you can have a lodger if it doesn’t take the number of occupants above the maximum number as set out in your tenancy agreement. You’ll also need our written permission first.
Can I keep a pet?
You should check your tenancy agreement/lease agreement to identify whether you are permitted to keep a pet in your home. Visit our pet permission web page to find out more
Can I make improvements to my home?
During the first 12 months of your tenancy you do not have the right the make improvements or alterations to your home. After the first 12 months, you must ask for our permission and we will not unreasonably refuse if you can provide evidence that the works will be carried out by a qualified tradesman. Electrical works must be carried out by a qualified electrician and the certification number provided.
