The Opendoor Homes Resident Scrutiny Group have now held 2 meetings in June and September. The meetings were attended by the Head of Repairs, Head of New Build, Head of Customer Experience and the Senior Estates Services Manager.
The group covered the new repairs priority plan and will be monitoring this going forward, they also learnt about latent defects from the development team. A latent defect is a fault in a property that could not have reasonably been discovered through inspection before completion. This could be due to the design, workmanship or materials used during construction. We take out 12-year latent defects’ insurance on our new build schemes to cover these defects which can help to save valuable repairs resources.
The next meeting is being held on the Thursday 5 December; it is a virtual meeting from 6.30-8pm. If you are interested in attending this meeting, either email deborah.beckford@barnethomes.org or call 020 8359 5307.
