Downsizing

The Fresh Start Scheme helps social housing tenants to downsize to a smaller property within the London Borough of Barnet.

Receive money when you downsize

• We offer between £1,500 to £4,000 to eligible tenants who downsize to a smaller property. Please note that if you have rent arrears, this will be deducted from your Fresh Start payment.
• If you are affected by the Under Occupancy Charge, we can assist you to downsize to a smaller property to reduce or remove the charge.
• Downsizing to a smaller home could also save you money on your heating bills.
